Social Worker – Manager Client Services and Outreach
Full time permanent position - February 15th, 2010


The Aphasia Institute is a non-profit, community agency committed to improving the lives of people with aphasia and their families. We are a teaching centre incorporating direct service, advocacy and awareness, support, education, training, and applied research and resource development. This is a leadership position.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • To oversee the outreach visiting program and partnership-agency training program
  • To oversee case management and client services in all direct service programs
  • To work in a multidisciplinary team
  • To partner with speech-language pathologists in program planning and execution
  • To participate as a trainer in the Institute's educational programs – including training  internal volunteers
  • To network and provide outreach services and information to potential referral agents and community partners

Qualifications

  • Hold a Master of Social Work degree
  • Have 3-5 years management experience
  • Maintain registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Have an interest in working with aphasia and experience working with seniors and disability
  • Have experience in providing case management, advocacy and counselling from an empowerment model
  • Be interested in all aspects of the teaching centre
  • Be flexible and creative
  • Be a strong team player
