![]() (Click on icon to donate) Donations to the Aphasia Institute Sometimes we take the gift of conversation for granted. But as the story of Scott, Jane and their family so vividly illustrates, stroke and aphasia can happen to anyone and when it does, even the simplest conversation can become very challenging. Read, “Aphasia forever changes bedtime stories – a family story”. In Memoriam Donations: When a cherished loved one dies, families and friends often make “In Memoriam” donations in that person's memory. If you would like “In Memoriam” donation cards or more information about this option, please contact 416 226-3636 ext. 21. Donations to the Aphasia Institute may also be made through the "Donate Now" button. An "In Memoriam" donation in the amount of your choosing is a lovely way to pay tribute and honour the memory of someone special. Bursary Program: Every one of us requires a little help now and then - and yet few of us like to ask for it. For our clients and families struggling with aphasia, this is also true. Aphasia—an acquired disorder caused by an injury to the brain, affects a person's ability to communicate and makes all the rituals of daily living, frustrating, complicated and often impossible. When you've been independent and managed all of your adult life, the last thing you want to do is rely on the assistance of others - and yet as we see it, a little help can go a long way. It is for this very reason that we have created a special way to lend a hand to someone in need: our Bursary Program. Unique Gift Ideas: When it comes to birthdays, anniversaries...the holiday season... or just “because”, why not consider a different kind of gift? Consider donating to the Aphasia Institute in the name of the special person you wish to honour, celebrate or recognize. In doing so, you will be helping people with aphasia and your special and unique gift will be remembered! Please call us or use the “Donate Now”. Thank you for your support!
