I Care

Campaign was a success!

25 Contributors helped raise money for 4 iPads

Imagine if every one of us (members, staff, volunteers, family) each did one thing to say…

“I CARE!”
What would that do for us?

  • Increase awareness about aphasia
  • Help our volunteer fundraisers to raise more money. (No amount is too big and no amount is too small!)

What your money can do:

  • Help buy much needed equipment
  • Support our conversation groups
  • Help pay for member outings
  • Support training for volunteers

The following people have generously donated to this vital fundraising initiative, collectively surpassing our goal for phase I of the campaign:

Ada Mok, our research assistant
Sold her hand-made dumplings, on the coldest day of the year, at the Brickworks Farmers Market. Did we mention the market was outside, on the coldest day of the year?

Assunta D.P, member
Made a cash donation.

Tita T., member
For her birthday this year, Tita asked family and friends to give money toward AI instead of gifts.

Aura Kagan, our executive director
Aura held an Oscar pool and gave prizes to winners.

Carla Crothers, our controller
Carla donated proceeds from selling her cookbook, as well as money raised by selling coffee and lemonade at a garage sale.

Sou-mee T., member

Se T., member
Made a cash donation.

Ryszard T., member
Made a cash donation.

Rochelle Cohen-Schneider, our director of clinical and educational services

Rochelle has been making kosher soup to keep our research assistant warm during the winter months. At $1.00 a bowl, that’s a pretty reasonable deal! Rochelle, are you taking orders for more?

Rebecca Choy, our social worker
Rebecca hosted “coffee time” at her home with her friends. Rebecca gave her guests brochures on AI, talked about who we are and what we do, and then asked each guest for a donation, which she then gave to the “I Care” campaign.

Michael Wright, volunteer
Michael hosted a dinner party, with the proceeds going to AI.

Lorraine K., member
Lorraine hosted a very popular sub sandwich sale here at AI. In addition to taking the orders and organizing payment and delivery of dozens of sub sandwiches, Lorraine enlisted other members and got a great rate on the subs, making every dollar go even further. Did we mention the sandwiches were yummy?

Kumar R., member
Kumar hosted a pizza lunch, with money from each slice going to AI.

Javed, member
At our December holiday party, just moments after we publicly launched the “I Care” campaign, Javed won the very large pot in our 50/50 draw. With not a moment’s hesitation, he took that money with him to the microphone and announced he was donating it all back to AI, specifically for the campaign.

Garfield A., member
Garfield’s donations to the campaign include money he collected from the Trilogy LTC community, as well as cash contributions from Garfield himself and from his aunt, Sheila.

Charline Sherman, our social worker & manager of intake and client services
Charline baked a very beautiful and tasty cake for the 65th birthday party of a certain data management staff member’s mother and donated the entire amount back to AI’s “I Care” campaign.

Celia Moore, professional training participant & volunteer
Celia, who came to us for training and stayed to volunteer, was so affected by the work we do, and by our staff, members and volunteers, that she made a very generous cash donation, insisting it go toward the “I Care” campaign.
