OFF-SITE TRAINING

We welcome opportunities to discuss taking our Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia (SCA™) workshops to you. We will review your particular learning objectives and timeline, suggest the workshops that fit best and then provide a quote that will include requirements and costs to make this happen.

ON-SITE TRAINING
The Aphasia Institute offers training sessions for health care professionals on how to work with clients with aphasia and to help them overcome communication barriers. Health care professionals will be shown how to apply training techniques to clinical situations such as assessment, counselling, group therapy and working with clients and their communication partners.

Resources, materials and manuals are provided in many of the workshops.

ARE YOU A STROKE HEALTHCARE PROVIDER WORKING IN ONTARIO?

If you are a healthcare professional working in Ontario, you are eligible for a FREE spot in the upcoming SCA Core Training workshops on June 10 & 11, made available through generous Ministry of Health funding. Registrations will be added to a LOTTERY.

Successful applicants will be notified by email on or before MAY 1. Once capacity has been reached, names will be added to a waiting list for future funded training opportunities.

Course Description
A2: SCA: Concepts, Practice & Evaluation: 9am – 4pm
Participants learn the theory of SCA™ and have the opportunity to practice techniques through role-playing.
A3: SCA: Advanced Practicum: 9am – 4pm
Participants continue to develop skills in SCA™. Participants practice their techniques with a group of people with aphasia. In the afternoon, participants learn how to apply SCA™ principles to their own work setting.
