CURRENT CAMPAIGN – WALK, TALK ‘n ROLL

Click the banner to sponsor or participate in the Walk, Talk ‘n Roll 2013. (See below for all other donation opportunities.)

Walking through the doors of the Aphasia Institute, one can literally see the impact their contribution is making. You see it in the responsive eyes of a new member who is searching for the right way to express what they are feeling or thinking. You see it in the vivid painting done by a person with aphasia participating in an art class program. You see it when a person with aphasia sways from side to side or taps their fingers in the music program. You see that people with aphasia come alive again and that donor dollars are at work in the right place.

There are so many ways to help people with aphasia and their families re-join life’s conversations. Whatever way feels right for you – planned giving, in memoriam, or bursary – please donate and help bring someone with aphasia back to their fullest life.

WAYS TO DONATE

1. Online Donations via CanadaHelps
To make a donation online using your credit card, please click on the CanadaHelps link below. (Please note that despite the caveat listed on CanadaHelps, we absolutely do send a card to the family member or friend you specify in your notes. As long as you let us know, a tribute card in memory will be sent.)

Donate Now Through CanadaHelps.org!

2. Donation by Mail (Cheque or Credit Card)
You may also give to the Aphasia Institute by printing out and completing our donation form and mailing us a cheque or including on the form your credit card details. (Please do not mail cash.)

ACTIVE FUNDS

1. General Fund (including our Bursary Program)
Our General Fund, which includes the bursary program, is the helping hand that we all need from time to time. And especially if you are living with daily challenges of aphasia – a once independent person now needing the assistance of others both with life and financial needs.

A gift toward this fund is a kind-hearted way to support the many initiatives of the Aphasia Institute and to lend a hand to someone with aphasia. See above for how to give by cheque, by credit card or online. If you have any questions, please contact Michael Wiley at 416-226-3636, ext. 21.

2. In Honour
Special occasions are a good opportunity to honour those you love. The best way to commemorate an occasion is to make a donation in the name of a loved one. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or holiday, any time is a great time to give. Share your goodwill by clicking here and selecting the appropriate fund, or by calling Michael Wiley at 416-226-3636, ext. 21. You’ll receive a tax receipt for any donation of $20 or more and, if you wish, your loved one will be sent a card notifying them of your gift (never the amount).

3. In Memory
Paying tribute to loved ones who have passed on is a truly meaningful way to honour their memory. For more information on how to make a special and lasting in memoriam gift, clicking here and selecting the appropriate fund, or by calling Michael Wiley 416-226-3636, ext. 21. You’ll receive a tax receipt for any donation of $20 or more and, if you wish, family or friends of the bereaved will be sent a card notifying them of your gift (never the amount).

4. Monthly Donation
A monthly donation is a great way to give. It provides an easy, recurring structure for your budget and allows us to plan ahead, knowing we have loyal, recurring donors. This can be done through any of the “Ways to Donate” listed above.

5. Planned Giving Program
Leave a lasting legacy by adding a charitable bequest in your will is the most common form of planned giving. There are beneficial ways Canadians can make a monetary gift through:

  • Publicly traded stocks and mutual funds
  • Life insurance policies
  • Gift plus annuities
  • Charitable remainder trusts
  • Gifts of residual interest and real estate

There are financial benefits to setting up a planned gift including income tax benefits, estate tax savings, and planning benefits. The greatest gift is knowing that your benevolence will live on in the contributions you made to others in your community.

The Aphasia Institute will work with you and your advisors to ensure your gift fits your wishes, and financial, family, and tax needs. Contact Carrie Harrison at 416-226-3636, ext. 11, or charrison@aphasia.ca to receive our information package.
