Dear Aphasia Institute Community,
We are pleased to share our new Strategic Plan for 2026–2029.
A roadmap reflecting our deep commitment to people living with aphasia and their families, and the future we are creating together. It builds on more than four decades of leadership as a community-based teaching institute, and reaffirms our dedication to innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact.
This plan is grounded in our evolving understanding of the needs and priorities of people living with aphasia, their families, and the professionals and systems of care who support them. In the next three years, we will strengthen and expand our work across direct services, education and training, and research and development.
At the heart of this work is a continued focus on real-life participation, guided by the lived experiences of people with aphasia. Just as importantly, the plan reflects our ongoing investment in organizational strength and sustainability—ensuring that we remain a safe, supportive, inclusive, and accessible environment for members and their families, staff, and volunteers.
This plan was shaped through a collaborative process that brought together Board, staff, volunteers, members and families, donors, clinicians, and system partners. Their insights helped us better understand the opportunities, challenges, and emerging needs within the aphasia community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to the process.
Thank you
Natalie Gierman, Executive Director and Jane Brenneman Gibson, Board Chair
